Why Most Founders Struggle With LinkedIn Consistency (And How I Fixed Mine)

If you’ve ever listened to my Ace Founder Podcast, you know I get to chat with some of the sharpest minds building B2B companies today.

But whenever the conversation turns to their LinkedIn presence, I notice a familiar pattern.

Every founder knows they should be posting. They know the platform’s value. Yet almost all of them struggle to stay consistent.

When I ask why, it usually comes down to one or more of these reasons:

  • "I don't know what to say." Blank page syndrome is real when you’re running a business.

  • Low engagement. Posting with zero or no engagement is discouraging.

  • Unclear ROI. Difficult to continue doing something that doesn’t generate revenue for your business.

  • The "Cringe" Factor. Feeling deeply uncomfortable with self-promotion or sounding like a "LinkedIn influencer."

  • Perfectionism. Spending two hours tweaking a single post until it loses all its original punch.

  • It’s the first thing to get cut. When you’re constantly putting out fires, LinkedIn is the last thing on your mind.

If any of those resonated with you, trust me: I’ve been there.

For a long time, I fought the exact same battles. My LinkedIn presence was a ghost town of random updates, long silences, and forced posts. I hated every minute of it, and my visibility suffered as a result.

Until one specific moment changed how I looked at the platform forever.

The Turning Point: From "Personal Branding" to "Credibility"

A while back, a high-value prospect I was working on agreed to have a chat with me.

During the call, he brought up a short video clip I’d posted from my podcast. It turned out I had interviewed a founder who happened to be a close friend of his.

Seeing that clip on his feed gave him immediate trust—it made him comfortable enough to take the call with me.

That single deal was my lightbulb moment.

Up until then, I had viewed LinkedIn as a personal branding project—something self-centred, slightly performative, and, as a naturally reserved person, deeply uncomfortable.

However, that call made me realise what LinkedIn actually is: a credibility project.

When you reframe LinkedIn from "Look at me and how smart I am" to "Here is proof of my work, my expertise, and the trust others place in me," everything changes.

Those consistency traps started dissolving on their own:

  • I suddenly knew what to post: I stopped trying to invent clever hot takes and started sharing real-world insights, client wins, and conversations I was already having.

  • My perfectionism disappeared: I realised credibility didn't require slick, glossy production—it just required authentic proof.

  • I no longer felt like I was bragging: I didn't feel the cringe of self-promotion anymore because I was simply documenting my work and highlighting others.

  • The ROI became obvious: I saw that every post acted as a digital asset that built trust with prospects before I ever jumped on a call.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, being consistent on LinkedIn isn't about forcing yourself to become an "influencer" or chasing viral reach. It's simply about letting potential buyers see the work you’re already doing.

When you stop trying to “build a personal brand” and start using LinkedIn to show that you are credible and that your solution can solve a prospect's problem, posting stops feeling like a chore—and starts feeling like a natural extension of running your business.

Over to You

Here’s my challenge for you this month: Publish just ONE post designed purely to build credibility.

  • Share a quick lesson from a recent client win

  • A screenshot of a real problem you solved,

  • Or a 60-second insight from a conversation you had this week.

Don't worry about likes or going viral. Even one reply, one DM, or someone bringing it up on a call — like that clip did for me — counts.
